Puppets: 2D to 3D

Self-driven project during internship. Blender.

I decided to modify the workflow used by our animation team. To make 2D puppet animation as robust as possible,
I migrated the workflow to Blender to make use of the extra dimension.

King of the Bar

Class project | 5 team members | 5 weeks | Godot Engine.

To achieve 3D-cutout visual style, the characters were modeled flat, the view depth acting as "layers" of different body parts. Utilizing a 3D rig for a practically 2D character was challenging, but the results were satisfying.

Smear

Personal project | Blender

The Smear project was inspired by the smearing techniques typically used in 2D animation/comics. To recreate this effect in 3D wasn't the most difficult thing: The challenge was to balance control for the animator and easy reusability.
